History of NijjranVillage Nijjran is a very famous village of Punjab Assembly Kartarpur-33 area. This village‘ is situated on Jalandhar - Kala Sanghian Road on the southern side and on the western side of Bist Doab Canal.
The bus stop of this village seems to be a round board. From this village Jalandhar is 14 Kms away and Kala Sanghian is 3.7 Kms, Aadhi Khuhi (Jalandhar-Kapurthala road) is 10.3 Kms and Partapura/Lambra (Jalandhar-Nakodar Road) is 6 Kms. At the bus stop a well furnished gate is also installed which attracted the ingress and egress persons. The village Nijjran comes under the jurisdiction of Jalandhar District but it is adjoining to the boundary of Kapurthala District. This is the last village of District Jalandhar. This village is surrounding with Kala Sanghian, Banwalipur, Lallian Kalan, Kurali, Puar and Gobindpur villages. This village is having two parts (Patties) namely Azampur and Beghampur. The forefathers are telling -that the village Kurali and Gobindpur were the part of this village Nijjran. In these both the villages the inhabitants were belongs to Nijjar family. The inhabitants of this village from all the communities are living in this village Nijjran with utmost love’ and affection. The inhabitants are having gottar (surname ) as Nijjar, Bhopal, Rakhra, Kalsi, Hans, Mattu and Batra etc. The population of this village is around 2800. This village is having about 1100 voters as per the voter list for the year 2012. Two polling booths are being organized in the village during the election. There was/is only one panchayat working in the village from its original. The inhabitants of this village are permanently residing abroad in England, USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, ’Newzealand,' Italy, Austria, Greece and Dubai. Apart from look ‘after of their family these NRIs are taking active part in the social and development works of the village such as religious places, School and Ayurvedic Dispensary ,etc and contributed an huge amount for the same. The wards of these NRIs are working on the high posts in the abroad. Most of them have established their own business. Most of them have purchased the farm house in their names. Hence the name of this village Nijjran is very famous in the world. Two Private Water supply organisations are working in the village with the help of these NRIs. From where the whole of the village is supplied with pure water. In the village Nijjaran one Sacha Sauda Charitable and Welfare Trust (Regd) is also established who adopted the Ayurvedic Dispensary which is working in the village since 1953. Some machines were purchased for the dispensary with the help of the NRIs namely ECG Machine, Foetal Doppler, Glucometer, GCU Meter. Cell .Counter, Oxygen Cylinder, -Electric Massager, Digital Steamer, Fully Automatic Shirodhara Machine, Drivertor, Sater Chiller, Steam Cookers, Computer with Printer, Cooking Gas with Cylinder, Infra Red Light, Weighing Scale, Computer Table, 5 Patients, Bed with Mattreses, 2 Massage Tables, 2 Steam Chamcos. So many diseases are checked through these machines on the nominal charges. The building of the dispensary has also been constructed a fresh as per the sketch prepared by the Trust. The said Trust is maintaining the accounts of the same. Two private employees are working in Panchkarma Centre (Dispensary). They have also been paid for their services by the trust. The trust is also providing oils and medicines etc to the Panchkarma Centre. This trust ‘is having 76 life members. There are five Gurudwara Sahib in the village. This village is also having one Primary School and one Govt High School. This village is also very clean and the outer tracks (Firni) of the village are also having metaled road. All the drainage system has been constructed one and the electricity is supplied round the clock. During the month of June 2006, this village had did a rare task, by leaving the Telephone Directory issued by the government, got it printed in the English and Punjabi languages and served to the inhabitants and NRIs of this village free of cost.» This telephone directory contains the contact numbers of all the inhabitants of the village, renowned hospitals and banks etc. This task has been completed with the best efforts of S. Karnail Singh Nijjar (U.K.), S. Jarnail Singh Nijjar President, S. Bir Singh . Rakhra, Secretary and S. Gej Singh Nijjar Cashier of Nijjar Education Welfare society. This village is also having its proud on its inhabitant namely S. Harbhajan Singh Rakhra who achieved -the top post of Indian Administrative Services and have got retirement from that post.
